  5. Is Steady for Life HIPPA compliant?

    Steady for Life does not collect "protected health information" (PHI) and, as such, does not fall under HIPPA rules. PHI is defined as individually identifiable health information (able to be linked to a particular person). Identifiers listed at hhs.gov include: names, social security numbers, addresses, and birth dates - all of which are not recorded in Steady for Life.

    Steady for life uses only "de-identified health information." De-identified health information neither identifies nor provides a reasonable basis to identify an individual. There are no restrictions on the use or disclosure of de-identified health information.

    Steady for life collects the initials of individual and date of fall screen. It is up to the subscriber to match and archive information to corresponding persons.
